I would highly recommended making Pilates part of your weekly workout. Nothing in exercise has help my golf game more and my general moving around then this. Since starting Pilates about 2 months ago my drives are longer straighter and my overall golf game has improved by 5 strokes off my handicap. The best part is that all the aches and pains during and after golf are gone. It makes golf a lot more fun. Try it!! You will be impressed.

Thank you Britt for the wonderful experience of the Core Fit class on Wednesday nights, I am really enjoying the companionship and exercise. Thought I would share some good news with you. I have osteoarthritis in my back and for the last few years have not been able to get on my horse without a mounting block. A couple of weeks ago, I was able to get on BY MYSELF, not the most graceful, but on. Attending Core Fit classes has strengthened my leg and core muscles which is vital to being able to mount. I am looking forward to being able to mount more gracefully as I continue attending the classes.

Now over 60, I have been a golfer, runner, and more like a gym mouse for most of my adult life. I started attending sessions at Energetic Care over three years ago with wonderful success.
Pilates has helped me form a stronger core, lengthen my muscles and the isometric exercises have developed good muscle toning. Besides feeling better, this balance has substantially reduced my injuries which means more time for golf and running.
Professional and friendly instructors. Five Star review!

I have improved my core strength, flexibility and balance with Pilates. I had no guess the positive impact Pilates would have on my golf game. I wish I had discovered it years ago as it’s so convenient and effective with immediate results. The folks at Energetic Care in El Dorado Hills are so personable and professional and I give them my highest recommendation.

I recently interviewed and worked out with Lynda Kelly at Energetic Care Pilates Studio. Lynda is a Massage Therapist and Pilates Instructor who works in the Business Park of El Dorado Hills. I initially met Lynda over the summer, and was immediately impressed by her passion for teaching, continued learning as a professional and for helping her clients through both massage and Pilates.
Lynda possesses a natural love for human movement stemming from her history involving being a Professional Dancer, an avid rock climber and hiker. Her introduction to Pilates followed an injury to her psoas (hip flexor) muscle while rock climbing. When this injury did not improve with massage therapy alone, she began physical therapy. Lynda was told by her Physical Therapist at the time that she lacked strength in her core muscles, and that this was one reason that her hip flexor pain was not resolving. Lynda began taking Pilates classes following this and began to notice improvement of her symptoms. She ultimately began teaching Pilates as a result of this experience.
Pilates emphasizes core muscle contraction, stabilization of the spine, flexibility and mental focus. In a Pilates class utilizing a reformer, the client is challenged to maintain stability in the lumbar spine/core while superimposing leg and arm work on this stable base. Awareness and attention to the state of one’s core contraction and lumbar stability is constantly required. This is the way the human body is intended to function with daily activities – the core/spine maintaining a stabile base, from which the arms and legs can then perform successful function. This emphasis makes Lynda’s Pilates classes not only very safe, but extremely beneficial for any interested individual, from the chronic pain patient interested in improving their level of daily function, to the elite athlete looking to progress their athleticism via improving their core strength.
I took my first Pilates class using a Pilates Reformer (a sliding “mat”, to which spring-resistance can be added to upper and lower body movements) from Lynda last weekend. We started with some awareness and breathing work, progressed to prolonged/isometric core contractions, while maintaining “Table Top” (on your back with knees and hips positioned at 90 degrees each). Resistance to arm movements such as pulling down toward the feet with straight elbows (activating the latissimus in addition to the deep core muscles), performing one arm circles and pulling down toward feet (demanding stability of the core versus an asymmetrical load on the spine). The spring resistance level was changed, and leg/hip work was begun. This involved resisted hip and knee extension (straightening) while maintaining stability of the spine and a constant core contraction. This was performed in different hip and leg alignments/positions, thereby challenging not only core stability, but hip mobility and contraction of deep hip stabilizer muscles which many individuals (myself very much included) lack. Activation of these deep glute muscles and superimposing this work on a stable core was challenging, yet felt great. Resisted hamstring/glute work (both legs and single leg) via “pulling” down with the legs on cables positioned above the client’s head was performed. Finally, hamstring and hip adductor flexibility exercises were performed, again, while maintaining a stable base at the spine, via a constant core contraction.
This experience was awesome. While very challenging, the movements performed felt so natural and beneficial that I was able to put the feeling of fatigue in the background of my awareness and totally enjoy the movements performed. During the class, one’s attention to a constant core contraction and spine stability is demanded. I found myself totally focused on this out of necessity, and attending to distracting thoughts was not possible during this class. This, in addition to the amazing core work and hip/leg flexibility I experienced during the class resulted in me feeling like $1,000,000 for the remainder of the day.
All of my patients would benefit from taking Lynda’s Pilates classes either in conjunction with P.T. or following discharge. This is a very natural and safe progression from the manual therapy, core activation and postural/body mechanics aspect which I address with my patients. Lynda is very knowledgeable and totally attentive to all participants and their individual needs and challenges during class.
Lynda offers classes in TRX training, yoga, meditation, cardiovascular-oriented classes and most recently, belly dancing. While belly dancing will likely not be in my immediate future, I love Lynda’s enthusiasm and passion for pursuing all avenues toward fitness of both body and mind. I highly recommend Lynda’s classes to all. They are very fun and extremely beneficial!!

Several years ago, I would have one or two episodes a year of severe muscular back pain that kept me out of work for a week or more. I was sent to an orthopedist who told me the best treatment for this was core strengthening and the best way was with Pilates. At that time, I started Pilates Reformer classes at Energetic Care and, I am very excited to say, I have not missed one day of work due to back pain since I started three years ago! Over the last few years, the instructors at Energetic Care have worked with me through my multiple injuries to help decrease my discomfort and strengthen the areas to prevent future injuries. The instructors are awesome!

I didn’t begin doing Pilates until I was in my 60s. I have been taking Pilates from Energetic Care for the past couple of years and I love every minute of it. I don’t like to be committed to a certain day and time over a long period of time so I really like the idea of being able to go online and sign up for the classes at any time for a day, week or month. Because there are several classes each day there always seems to be a class for what I want and when I want. Sometimes they are full classes, sometimes only myself or another person. I also like buying a package of classes which saves me money.
I recently had to have a hip replacement. I did Pilates right up to my surgery. Lynda helped me alter my workout a bit prior to surgery. I returned to Pilates as soon as possible after the surgery. Again Lynda would alter my routine as needed for my new hip. My doctor was amazed at how well I with the surgery and how quickly I healed and how much mobility I now have. I completely attribute this ALL to my Pilates and the help that I received. In addition, I used to often suffer from back pain. Since doing Pilates I no long have the back pain at all.
The instructors are always very conscious of ones age and physical restrictions so I never feel uncomfortable in class. Having said that, I find that I have to concentrate very hard to perfect the movements and therefore I forget all else. Not only do I enjoy the physical workout I get from the class, but I find it mentally challenging and good for my mental wellbeing. I always leave the class feeling better than when I entered.
I will always do Pilates. I really feel my life and body have improved a great deal from Energetic Care Pilates. My posture has improved and I have gone down a clothing size or two!

There are two things I love most about Energetic Care Studio. The first is the dedication, knowledgeability, and spirit the owner and instructors have, and the second is how wonderful the classes make my body feel.
I have been working with Lynda for three years now. What a God send! Whether I have a Pilates class, massage or coaching session, I leave feeling lighter, happier, and centered. I recommend her to everyone I know.
– Loretta Allsup, Retired VP of Sales
I have been attending Lynda’s Pilate’s class for over a year now. I truly look forward to our hour of exercise, stretching, breathing techniques, and relaxation. Lynda’s class is for everyone, young and old. She is helpful to the new students, offering several “levels” in which the exercise can be done. She is informative, sharing her knowledge on the specific muscle’s each exercise is concentrating on. Pilates has helped my lower backache, I am stronger, and I am more limber than I have been in a long time. I would recommend Lynda’s class for all.
– TGJ (over 50!)
Lynda is a very caring, knowledgeable, professional instructor. Through her Pilates class I have learned to manage a chronic sciatic condition and no longer require physical therapy or medication. Lynda gets to know each of her students and gives individual attention, even in a large class. I especially appreciate her method of teaching – she demonstrates each movement, describing which muscles and joints are involved and the benefits. I was in such pain I had to stop working sooner than planned. Now, besides Pilates, I am taking yoga classes and working with strength training equipment I never thought I could use. I just love Lynda; her sweet spirit reminds me of my sister. I have recommended Lynda to many people.

All the instructors at Energetic Care are fantastic. They give such personal attention and care to each student. Lynda Kelly and staff are excellent in example and in guiding students through the body’s anatomy, body awareness and bringing each of us into correct alignment and form through understanding of the principles and the proper use of the Reformer with a multitude of powerful exercises. I wholeheartedly endorse these classes to anyone interested in becoming pain-free and healing from injury, achieving strength, tone & flexibility and building a strong inner core for maintaining balance and stability. It’s absolutely wonderful for your self-esteem as well. You really feel good about giving this to yourself!

Lynda is an awesome teacher. I have been involved with Yoga classes for over 35 years and she truly understands the body/mind connection and is able to communicate this to students at a level I have not experienced before in Yoga class.
I’ve taken Lynda Kelly’s class since I first began Yoga five years ago. She is a great favorite with me and with her other regulars who fill the room when she is teaching. I love it that she is helpful without being intrusive. She gets the best out of each of us. Her manner is always cheerful, supportive and calm and her voice is quiet. Lynda is a music lover and her choice of music, always loud enough to be a real presence but never louder than it should be, adds so much to the flow of the positions we do. We are intent on what we are doing in her class; she has our full attention and it is truly an experience in moving meditation.
– Arline Molander, Retiree
Patience, compassion, teacher, healer, these are just some of the characteristics that describe Lynda and the way she conducts her yoga class. During the two hours I spend with her, the hour and a half in yoga and half hour meditation, it is clear to me that my mind and body have transformed for the good.
– Marge Tarbell, age 68
Your class is wonderful. I enjoy everything you teach even though some of my poses leave something to be desired. I enjoy your affirmations, music and the special attention you give to each student. My favorite part of the class is the last 10 minutes and then the extended relaxation. I highly recommend your class. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
– Diane, a proud student of Lynda Kelly
I love your class and have from the very first one. Whenever I leave, I am relaxed, spiritually recharged and feel that I had a great workout. I have recommended your class to many people, and a lot of them are regulars now!!

Lynda Kelly has been instrumental in alleviating my panic/anxiety attacks through her Life coaching. I am now able to do things I never thought possible. She is the only person who has ever been able to get me to completely relax and de-stress through her Massage Therapy and Life coaching, always knowing exactly what I need. Thanks to Lynda I am now on the road to much improved health!”
